What’s in Pure Bone Broth?

We’re committed to sourcing the highest quality local ingredients that money can buy. Our beef bones come from organic grass fed and grass finished cattle from small scale farms in British Columbia. These cows are raised in a naturally low stress environment where they’re able to explore boundless pasture year round and graze to their hearts’ content.

All of our chicken bones come from Non-GMO, free range birds. These are no cage-bound chickens. Quite the opposite.

The balance of Pure Bone Broth is garlands of B.C. based fresh organic herbs and vegetables and a dash of himalayan salt to taste. We're happy to say that our bone broth's are gluten, soy, nut, dairy, GMO, heavy metal, hormone and antibiotic free!

How do I use this stuff?

Bone broth is a canvas from which you can create nourishing meals from. Pure Bone Broth is shipped frozen. For immediate use, we recommend placing the package in water to partially thaw then reheat on a stove. Alternatively, you can leave it in the fridge to thaw overnight.

Bone broth is versatile so you can add it to anything you're cooking - from a stir fry to pasta sauce to a soup or chili. For some inspiration checkout the recipe page.

Bone broth great for cooking rice, bulgur, quinoa... or any other hip grains you may have in your diet.

We’d encourage you to do what our founder (Connor) does: warm it up on the stove, pour it in your chalice of choice, and drink it down the hatch. One cup a day is the perfect dose for health benefits.

How is the broth delivered?

Vancouver Pickup

You can pick up your order free of charge from our pickup depot. Our depot is located at Vital Cafe at 686 Powell St. Please mention to our friendly staff that you are here to pickup your bone broth order. They will direct instruct you on how to get your broth!

Pickup hours are as follows:

Tuesday: 6-11am
Wednesday: 6-11am 
Thursday: 6-11am

Vancouver Delivery

If you live in Greater Vancouver*, we deliver straight to your door for a $10! 

If you have any special delivery instructions in your order, please write those in the "Special Instructions" section of the checkout process. It is recommended that someone be available to accept delivery, but if not, we will attempt to leave the broth in a safe place such as your doorstep or with your concierge.

Delivery times are Tuesday and Friday between 9AM-2PM. Please email us if you cannot arrange either a safe location for us to leave the broth or someone to be home to accept and we will work something out. (connor(at)purebonebroth(dot)co)

How do you make Pure Bone Broth?

I’d tell you, but then I’d have to… In all seriousness, great bone broths are all about the details. We’ve spent the last two years honing the recipe. Our beef broth is simmered for 24 hours to ensure that all the good stuff is gently extracted from the bones.

The chicken bone broth is simmered for 20 hours. The reason for the shorter simmering time is that chicken bones are not as thick and dense as beef bones. This means that the collagen and nutrients are extracted quicker.

After the simmering process we immediately strain and cool the broths, skim off excess fat, strain a second time and package it. The amount of TLC we put into each batch makes it quite labour intensive. But we truly enjoy every minute of it!

Why is your broth better than regular bone broth?

We are the only organic beef bone broth and free range non-GMO chicken bone broth simmered for 24 hours in Canada!

Not all bone broths are created equal. The quality of your bones has the greatest effect on the quality of a ready-to-drink broth. 

For example, Grass fed beef has more Conjugated Linoleic Acid, antioxidants (Vitamin A, E) and omega-3 fatty acids than grain fed beef. A little known fact of the farming industry is that the majority of "grass fed" beef you buy at your local butcher shop or grocery store is actually grain finished.

Most farms finish their cattle on grains for the last month of the cow's life. Even though it's a short period of time, it still greatly deteriorates the nutrient profile of the meat.

We spend the bulk of our resources sourcing the highest quality local ingredients. Organic grass fed and finished beef bones, Non-GMO free range chicken bones and organic herbs and vegetables serve as the base for both of our bone broths.

Perhaps more importantly, our bone broth is made with love. In fact, we think about you while we make it. 

What you end up with is the highest quality bone broth available -- a nutrient dense, and highly absorbable powerhouse in one soothing liquid.

What packaging do you use?

Recyclable, BPA free re-sealable plastic food pouches. This provides a convenient, non-messy and safe way for you to reseal and use at your leisure.

What is the shelf life of Pure Bone Broth?

7 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.
